Wightlink donates £5,000 to Yarmouth fireworks and torchlight procession

Wightlink has donated £5,000 to Yarmouth Carnival Committee to support this year’s spectacular fireworks display, taking place on 5th November 2026.

The annual Yarmouth fireworks and torchlight procession has been a much-loved part of the town’s calendar for more than 50 years and is one of the most anticipated dates in the West Wight, bringing crowds from across the Island and the mainland to enjoy an evening of traditional community celebrations.

Torchlit procession and fireworks over the Solent
It begins with a torch-lit procession through Yarmouth’s picturesque streets before the crowds gather on the Common for a spectacular fireworks display over the Solent.

“Local businesses also get into the Bonfire Night spirit by creating their own Guy Fawkes figures to display in their shop windows or outside their premises, with Wightlink providing prizes for the best displays.

The £5,000 donation will help the Yarmouth Carnival Committee stage this year’s fireworks and ensure the much-loved event continues to bring the community together.

Volunteers grateful for support
Jamie Allen, Chair of Yarmouth Carnival Committee, said,

“We’re very grateful to Wightlink for this generous donation. There is a lot of work involved in organising the fireworks and torchlight procession each year, and this support will help us continue to put on an event that is enjoyed by so many people.

“The evening has become an important part of the Yarmouth calendar, with the torchlight procession, the Guy Fawkes displays and the fireworks all bringing the town together and providing a much-needed boost for local businesses at a quiet time of year.

“With all our events run by volunteers, donations like this make a real difference, and we’re very pleased to have Wightlink’s support and are looking forward to this year’s event.”

Strong connections to Yarmouth
Sam Woodman, Wightlink’s Partnerships Marketing Manager, said,

“We’re delighted to continue our support for Yarmouth’s fireworks and torchlight procession.

“It’s a wonderful community event that brings local people together and attracts visitors from across the Island and the mainland to enjoy everything Yarmouth has to offer.

“As a company with such strong connections to Yarmouth, we’re proud to support events like this and help make them possible.

“We’re also looking forward to seeing the town’s fantastic Guy Fawkes displays and rewarding the best of them with our prizes.”

20% off ferry fares for the event
Wightlink is also making it easier for visitors travelling from the mainland to join the celebrations, with 20per cent off foot, car and motorcycle ferry fares for travel to the Isle of Wight between 4th and 6th November 2026.

See event listing for details.

Free to attend: when and where
The fireworks event is free to attend, with the torchlight procession starting at 6pm in Yarmouth town square before making its way up the High Street and onto the Common, where the beacon will be lit and the fireworks will begin.
