Following the local RMT meeting tonight, another twist in the Wightlink Strike story has occured.
The person who the strike was being called in support of, has asked the RMT not to carry out the strike in his name, as he has been offered another job elsewhere and is keen for it to not have an impact on that.
As the calling of the strike is controlled by the RMT in London, the strike is officially still on, but an RMT source tells us that it is likely that this will change.
UPDATE 11:32 16.Dec: Nothing official will be announced by the RMT until they have held a central meeting at head office that is scheduled for Monday. Local indications still point to the strike being called off.
