The wind may howl and the rain may pour but such weather is the perfect excuse to be inside to listen and share tales of exploits and wonder.
Take refuge and shelter from the cold and join the Island Storytellers for an evening of winter tales at The Retreat in Scarrots Lane, Newport on Monday 21st January from 7.30-9.30pm.
Island Storyteller’s chairperson, Sue Bailey said “From time immemorial, people have collected together at the darkest time of the year and told tales of courage and indomitable spirit.
No doubt our evening will have a share of true tales, such as the rescue of the crew of the Irex in January 1890 but there will also likely be folk tales, like the Russian Tale of ‘The Snow Maiden’. Everyone is welcome to join us whether you have a story to share or not.”
All is not lost if you cannot make this January date. The Island Storytellers are meeting at The Retreat, again, on 18th February and 18th March 2013. Put the dates in your diary now! For more information, contact Sue Bailey on 07837 601315
