Young person looking at camera

Young filmmakers’ chance to shine in Isle of Wight music video competition (Listen)

As reported on Friday, last week saw the launch of a film competition on the Isle of Wight.

Picture the Music is open to all ages, but has very special prizes for two categories of ages: those under 25 and those under 18.

How it works
The set-up is really simple: choose one of the five tracks via the Brave Island Website. Then, over the next six weeks, you can plan your creation, film it, edit it, and enter. Please note, the deadline is 31st August 2023.

You don’t need all the tools typically required for a music video; you can film it on your phone, use stop-motion animation, a collection of photos, or whatever takes your fancy.

Prizes
The prizes are commemorating the late Peter Cramp, an important character in Ventnor who epitomised the essence of coolness, had a passion for independent film and wanted others to be inspired by it.

The previous winners in 2019 – Double or Nothing Productions – invested their prize in equipment that kick-started their careers and were nominated last year for a Mobo Award for directing, filming and editing a video for rapper Headie One’s ‘Can’t Be Us’.
