21-year old sailing fanatic and fundraiser Ludo Bennett-Jones is undertaking a circumnavigation of the UK in a 16ft Wayfarer dinghy.
This 2,500 nautical mile adventure began on Saturday 28th April from Cowes, and follows a clockwise route to try and use the prevailing winds (SW) to their advantage.
Approaching North Devon
After sailing the short distance from Cowes to Yarmouth, Ludo continued along the South West coast of the UK and is approaching North Devon.
To date he is a little behind schedule due to poor weather conditions as by 11th May he hoped to be in Fishguard, Wales.
Hoping to raise £100,000
Ludo aims to raise £100,000 for Sports Relief and the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust and he will sail two-handed, being joined by equally experienced sailors for the various legs of the route.
Ludo, proudly sponsored by BT, is going for two world records – for the youngest person to sail a dinghy around the UK in the shortest time.
He is no stranger to sporting adventures having participated in the 2011 London Marathon and driven to Mongolia as a part of the 2010 Mongol Rally, raising over £4000 collectively for charity along the way.
