Thanks to Ian Carter for sharing news of this young Islander’s musical challenge. Best of luck to Georgina in this competition and her school exams. Ed
With only a couple of days to go, Island girl, Georgina Carter currently lies in fourth place in a competition to meet the boys from McFly during their forthcoming tour.
Georgina, a Year 10 student at Cowes Enterprise College, posted her version of their single, “Shine a Light”, to the competition Website which has now notched up 2005 “likes”. At the close of the competition the winners will receive a pair of “meet and greet” tickets to chat with them before they go on stage.
Love of music
Georgina has been playing guitar and writing her own songs for a couple of years now and is no stranger to the stage – having performed at Shanlkin Theatre on numerous occasions. McFly is her favourite band and she saw them at the Portsmouth Guildhall last year.
McFly are currently in the charts with their single “Love is Easy” and you may know them from certain recent television appearances. Harry Judd, the drummer, won “Strictly Come Dancing in 2011” and bassist, Dougie Pointer won “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here” in the same year. Singer and guitarist, Danny Jones performed in “Popstar to Opera Star”.
