The Dollymops sing about and discuss Isle of Wight words

Long time readers will recall the excellent audio series of Isle of Wight words by Mr Caulkhead which we ran almost 200 editions of from 2009.

The words used by Mr Caulkhead were based on the IW Dialect Dictionary written by 19th century folk song collector William H Long of Calbourne.

Tonight sees an event take place at The Riverside Centre, hosted by the Isle of Wight Family History Society (IWFHS), which celebrates the life and work of Mr Long.

Island folk band, The Dollymops, will give a talk and songs based on the work of the said Islander.

Where and when
Doors at the Riverside Centre open for the event 7pm and the events starts 7.30pm, finishing around 9pm.

Entry is just £1 for members of the IWFHS, or £2 for non members.

If you are interested in tracing your Island ancestors why not pop along and chat with members of the committee and other members. The IWFHS can help you with your research.
