Who will be the lucky young people voted to become members of the 2010 Isle of Wight Youth Council and who will be the lucky individual voted in as Member of the UK Youth Parliament?
These are the big questions on the lips of all those with an interest in the Isle of Wight Youth Council and youth politics.
Voting starts a week on Monday (30 Nov) and runs until 1pm at the end of that week (4 Dec) with the triumphant winners being announced on 14th December at County Hall by the leader of the Council, David Pugh.
All Isle of Wight high schools, as well as Ryde School, the Isle of Wight College, special schools, Christ the King College and the Connexions Centre on 29 High Street, Newport will host voting stations.
What do the Youth Council do?
If you’re wondering what the purpose of the Youth Council (YC) is, it’s an independent organisation that works closely with Isle of Wight Council to provide valid input into local authority policies and projects that benefit young people on the Island.
In addition to the YC elections, voting for the Isle of Wight’s Member of the UK Youth Parliament (MYP) runs alongside.
The lucky individual will work with the local MP, councillors, schools and the YC on local issues.
