Asphalt Plant: Environmental Health Department recommending refusal

Mike Gildersleeves, the Senior Planning Officer dealing with the application for a proposed Asphalt Plant at Medina Wharf by Eurovia has this week provided an update to the case.

A copy of a letter sent to the agent dealing with the application, Mr Marsh, reveals that the Environmental Health Department have recommended the application be refused, specifically on the grounds of potential contamination and noise impact.

The planning department have invited the applicant to a provide further information and go on to say that if they do not provide satisfy this requirement, the case will be submitted to the Planning Committee with the EHD’s recommendations.

Julia Hill from Wight Residents Against Asphalt Plant said, “WRAP would like to thank the hundreds of local residents who have raised the valid concerns included in the planning officers letter. It is, however, disappointing that the Council have decided to give the applicants another chance to seek to satisfy their concerns given that there are such strong grounds for refusal at this time.”
