Police have closed a road in Sandown this morning (Tuesday) after a sinkhole appeared.
Island Roads issued a tweet informing Islanders about the closure earlier,
A sinkhole has appeared outside the post office in Beachfield road, Sandown. This road will have to be closed until further notice.

As you might expect, the closure will affect buses using the road.
Southern Vectis gave this advice for pupils waiting for the school bus,
Due to this closure, students who access route 332 should walk from the Beachfield Road stop to the Heights bus stop where they will be collected. The bus will not go to Beachfield Road.

Update from Island Roads
Beachfield Road will be closed from Royal Street to Royal Crescent between 7am on Tuesday 9 June and approx. Friday 19 June 2015 for emergency carriageway investigation and repair works by Island Roads.
The one way restriction from Royal Street to Royal Crescent will be temporarily suspended to allow access.
Diversion Route: Royal Street, Melville Street, Fitzroy Street, Station Avenue, Albert Road, Victoria Road, Avenue Road, Broadway, Melville Street and Royal Crescent.
