Collapsed bank and ‘depression’ in road lead to road closures

Island Roads are being kept busy this morning, as another two emergency Road Closure Notices are issued. The first is for Niton Road, Rookley.

The closure is from 1015 hours until 1415 hours on Thursday 7th January 2016 between Harts Lane to its junction and Chequers Inn Road.

The closure is required due to an emergency bank collapse.

Diversion Route: Niton Road, A3020 Main Road and Newport Road, West Street, Whitwell Road, High Street (Whitwell), Kemming Road, Chatfield Road, Rectory Road, Newport Road and Niton Road.

The second is for Nunwell Street, Sandown.

Island Roads on behalf of The Isle of Wight Council give notice that from 0900hrs on Thursday 7th January 2016 until 1630hrs on Monday 11th January 2016 or when the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner, no person shall cause any vehicle to proceed along Nunwell Street, Sandown from its junction with Station Avenue to its junction with Hill Street.

The closure is required for emergency carriageway repair works outside number 14.
