- Simon Perry Hi Mark - the bots have been giving it a damn good go for a while (and boy are they persistent) - Happily we've been able to block them. Good luck with your Poet Laureate ambitions next year - let your cloak flow!Thank you for your patience: OnTheWight is back … and so are comments!
- Snowwolf1 Just checked out charges in Wiltshire and Hampshire if they do increase we will be second highest in this area and ironically Southampton City Council only charge £69 a year! That says it all about our Council in my book.Isle of Wight garden waste subscription could rise to £120 a year
- VentnorLad Welcome back! You’ve been missed.Thank you for your patience: OnTheWight is back … and so are comments!
- Guy Eades “Due to high demand the garden waste subscription is now closed” - says the IWC waste collection website. Lateral thinking by Mr Moon and the Committee members might lead them to consider the additional revenue targets they require might be achieved by making the service available to more people at the current rate. Even more laterally the ‘cost of living’ pressures also reduced and making the service available and affordable to a wider income cross section of the Island household…Isle of Wight garden waste subscription could rise to £120 a year
- Mark L Francis Hacked by bots! What scumbags - I blame them pesky Overners. What are they like? (either that or Colin - the rascal! - he's never forgiven me for that garden gnome gybe) Now at least /I have a chance to bellyache against getting knocked back as Poet Laureate after I got a Tennyson hat & cloak & all. Philistines! Philistines I tell you!Thank you for your patience: OnTheWight is back … and so are comments!
- johnr You can only keep increasing the fees for so long before the public revolt, we already have one of the most expensive garden waste collections in the whole of the UK, just this afternoon I witnessed 3 seperate 'Fly Tips' of garden waste along the verges.Isle of Wight garden waste subscription could rise to £120 a year
- Snowwolf1 Wow what a fantastic organisation, I just wish I was a lot younger all the skills given are well worth learning and it is a local event organiser. The skills listed in many ways will improve confidence especially in the young and a great knowledge base.Free online outdoor skills checklist launched by Islander
- Snowwolf1 I feel the whole of the Island would approve of fly tippering fines, we end up footing the bill in the end if they didn't. Where has the common sense disappeared to with our Council and anyone who is actually able to regulate "crimes"?No decisions made on budget savings options, Isle of Wight Council stresses
- Snowwolf1 Wow what a salary be interesting to know just how many people have to survive and live on the Island for less than a quarter of that salary. Perhaps te Council really needs to look at pay levels.Isle of Wight Council recruiting strategic director on up to £124,441 a year
- Snowwolf1 I take it that the Council is totally unaware of the poverty level for many on the Island, also the fact that our two MPs are working hard to get assistance from the government. You can only rob the people for so long before something snaps.Isle of Wight garden waste subscription could rise to £120 a year

- david22 Thank you for arranging this interview. Councillor Ed Blake has of course been advocating the same water extraction from the Undercliff for some time. I hope that someone at Southern Water picks up on the possibilities. Presumably Ventnor was once self-sufficient in water. Perhaps someone in the Ventnor and District Local History Group can enlighten us. There is a Pumping Station at 3 Mitchell Avenue dating back to 1883 according to the listing records which according to Southern Water is "a…LISTEN: New idea to cut landslips and gain extra water
- Mark L Francis If this prediction is just applying national trends to the IOW then does it really mean anything? The IOW rarely reflects national trends in anything let alone elections. Demographically I suppose I should vote Reform but that's about as likely as Nigel Farage donating £5m to Palestine.Reform UK predicted to win most Isle of Wight Council seats in May elections
- Mason Watch The article should mention that, having watched the gig rowers, the average age appears to be 70 plus so it's very much something that will appeal to those of a certain ageTraditional sports day and gig rowing to round off Wight Games Festival
