Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Wednesday 7 October until approx. 4.30pm on Friday 9 October 2015 for the installation of a new gas service by Southern Gas Networks. Some traffic delays will occur.

DOWNEND / ARRETON: BESTIVAL MUSIC EVENT 2015 – PEDESTRIAN RESTRICTIONS & FOOTPATH & BRIDLEWAY CLOSURES

Public Footpaths and Bridleways in the Downend and Mersley Downs Area will be closed to pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians in the interests of public safety during the Bestival music event from 6am on Monday 31 August until approx. 4pm on Friday 18 September 2015.
Public Bridleways N18/N20/N90, Arreton will be closed from near Station Road (Havenstreet) to Mersley Down Road. Public Footpaths R13, R14, R15 & Bridleways N91 / N154, Arreton will be closed from Rowlands Lane to the junction with Public Bridleways N90 / N20. Public Bridleways N19/N155 will also be closed between Briddlesford Road and Combley Farm.
In addition in the interests of road / public safety Public Footpaths A11, R16, A16, Bridleway A17 will also be closed. Pedestrians will not be permitted to walk along Mersley Down Road (from Downend Road to Rowlands Lane); Long Lane (Downend); from Briddlesford Road/Downend Road (at Robin Hill roundabout) to Landscape Lane ( Newport); Briddlesford Road, Downend from Long Lane / Downend Road (at Robin Hill Roundabout) to Gravel Pit Lane, Wootton ; Downend Road, Downend from Arreton Street to Long Lane / Briddlesford Road (at Robin Hill Roundabout; Downland Way (the footpath adjacent to Mersley Down Road) and Newport Shute during the same times. BESTIVAL – PUBLIC TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS:
BESTIVAL MUSIC EVENT 2015 PUBLIC TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

SHUTTLE event buses will operate at regular intervals from Thursday morning on 10 September until the afternoon on Monday 14 September 2015 from; Terminus Road, Cowes; Castle Street, East Cowes; Ryde Esplanade, near to Ryde Bus Station and Yarmouth Bus Station to/from the event temporary bus station situated approx. 350m Brading side of the junction with Downend Road, before during and after the event. Buses will also leave from Church Litten, a two minute walk from Newport bus station, at regular intervals from Thursday morning on 10 September until the afternoon on Monday 14 September 2015. TAXIS: The official taxi drop off and pick up point will also be within Robin Hill. This will be clearly signed on the approaches to Robin Hill Roundabout. Motorists should be aware that there will be some additional traffic delays in the East Cowes, Fishbourne Lane and Yarmouth town centre areas during and after the Bestival between the morning of Thursday 10 and the evening of Monday 14 September 2015, due to high level of ferry traffic. People travelling on the Southampton, Portsmouth and Lymington ferries especially after the Bestival should only arrive at the Isle of Wight ferry terminals between 30 and 60 minutes before their booked time in an effort to minimise the traffic congestion and delays that will occur after the event. People who do not have ferry bookings should not try to cross from late on the night of Sunday 13 September until late in the evening on Monday 14 September 2015 as all ferries are fully booked.

BESTIVAL – DOWNEND / ARRETON: #
BESTIVAL MUSIC EVENT 2015 – TRAFFIC AND PARKING RESTRICTIONS
ARRETON / NEWCHURCH AREA – Downend Road /Mersley Downs Road /Briddlesford Road /Long Lane/A3056 Sandown Road. There will be traffic delays on the above roads from Thursday 10 until the evening on Monday 14 September 2015 when the Bestival Event takes place at Robin Hill Park. Through traffic is strongly advised to use an alternative route if possible during this period as there will be long traffic delays at times. ROAD CLOSURES AFTER THE EVENT: To assist with traffic flow from approx. 7am until 6pm on Monday 14 September 2015, Mersley Down Road will be closed from Downend Road to Rowlands Lane/ Lime Kiln Shute and Downend Road will be closed in a northbound direction from Arreton Cross to Mersley Down Road. Diversions will be signposted. Temporary 30mph speed limit and 24 hour no-waiting clearway order will be in operation in; Mersley Downs Road (from Downend Road to Knighton Shute between 9am on Wednesday 26 August 2015 and 1200 hours on Friday 18 September 2015 and when signposted in Downend Road; Briddlesford Road (from Downend Road to Gravel Pit Lane); in Long Lane (from Newport to Robin Hill Roundabout); A3056 Arreton Street/Sandown Road from Arreton Village to near Gore Cemetery and in Rowlands Lane from Stroud Wood Road to Mersley Downs Road. In addition in Castle Street, East Cowes from Well Road to Old Road a clearway order will be in operation. From 5am on Monday 14 September until approx. 2pm on Tuesday 15 September 2015 a temporary 30mph speed limit will be in operation in; Beatrice Avenue, East Cowes from A3021 Whippingham Road, Whippingham to Saunders Way, Whippingham; in Saunders Way, East Cowes from its junction with A3021 Whippingham Road, Whippingham to a point 50 metres to the west of Beatrice Avenue, East Cowes and in A3021 Whippingham Road, East Cowes from a point 320 metres south of the junction with Folly Lane to a point 95 metres south of the junction with Crossways Road, East Cowes. These restrictions are necessary in the interests of road safety. Motorists should be aware that NO STOPPING OR PARKING will be permitted on the roads where the clearway restriction is in operation during the above dates. Any car that is found to be parked within the clearway restriction will be towed away. BESTIVAL – DOWNEND / ARRETON:
Rowlands Lane (Temporary One Way Restriction) From 6pm on Wednesday 9 September 2015 until approx. 9pm on Sunday 13 September 2014 (earlier if required), a one way restriction will be implemented in Rowlands Lane, Havenstreet, in a southbound bound direction between Stroudwood Road and Mersley Down Road (because vehicles are arriving at the Bestival event). From approx. 9pm on Sunday 13 September 2015 (earlier if required) until 6pm on Monday 14 September 2013 a temporary one-way restriction in Rowlands Lane, Havenstreet, in a northbound bound direction between Mersley Down Road to Stroudwood Road (because vehicles are leaving the event). The alternative route is Stroundwood Road, Ashey Road and Mersley Downs Road. The order is required in connection with the interests of road safety due to the volume of traffic from the Bestival Music event.

BLACKGANG:
A3055 Blackgang Roundabout / Access road to Blackgang

Temporary traffic lights will be in from Thursday 10 September 2015 until approx. Tuesday 22 September 2015 for the construction of manhole chamber and cable works by CCN Communications for British Telecom. Traffic delays will occur.

BROOK:
Brook Village Road
from The Old Coach House to the junction of Badgers Lane). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation at times between Monday 7 September and Wednesday 16 September 2015 for cable works by Hire a Lite for British Telecom. Traffic delays will occur.

EAST COWES:
Esplanade
will be closed from 2.30pm on Friday 25 April 2014 for the foreseeable future between 375 metres to the northeast of Cambridge Road and the end of the highway 860 metres to the northeast of Cambridge Road. There is no alternative route for traffic. This closure is necessary to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road due to a landslip. From 1200hrs on Friday 18 July 2014 for the foreseeable future the following roads / path will be closed to vehicular traffic: Cliff Road / Cliff Path will be closed from point 55 metres to the northwest of the junction with Ranalagh Road to point 185 metres to the south west of the junction with Cliff Gardens (the southern boundary of number 6). Ranalagh Road will also be closed from Cliff Road to a point 10 metres to the west of Cliff Road. During the period of closure there is no alternative route for vehicles. The closure is for a Sewer Flood Alleviation Scheme to upsize the existing sewer pipeline. The diversion route will be; West Street, Dover Street and Esplanade. Works are due to start near to the junction with West Hill Road. Temporary traffic lights will be in operation when necessary from Monday 17 November 2014 until the end of the scheme. Some traffic delays will occur.

Simeon Street will be closed from 9am on Monday 9 March until 4pm on Friday 25 September 2015 between The Strand and Monkton Street. The diversion route will be: The Strand and Monkton Street. The closure is for a sewer flood alleviation scheme to upsize a sewer pipeline. Access to premises and businesses will be maintained from one end of the road as far as possible during the works.

Monkton Street will be closed from 9am on Wednesday 20 May until 4pm on Tuesday 25 August 2015 and from Monday 7 September until Friday 25 September 2015 between The Strand and Simeon Street. Note these are revised closure dates. The diversion route will be: The Monkton Street, East Street and The Strand. The closure is for a sewer flood alleviation scheme to upsize a sewer pipeline. Access to premises and businesses will be maintained from one end of the road as far as possible during the works.

Lind Hill / Crown Street will be closed from 9am on Monday 3 August 2015 until approx. 4pm on Friday 11 September 2015 between Lind Street and the end of the surfaced highway 35 metres to the south and 30 metres to the east. There is no alternative route for traffic; however emergency vehicle access will be maintained. The closure is for sewer connection works including the construction of new manholes by Dial A Rod Engineering Services.

Upton Road (outside 57a) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Monday 5 October until approx. 4.30pm on Friday 9 October 2015 for a new gas connection by SGN. Some traffic delays will occur.

Castle Street will be closed from 9am until 3.30pm on one day between Monday 14 September and Wednesday 16 September 2015, from Nelson Street to Nelson Place.

ST LAWRENCE:
A3055 Undercliff Drive
will remain closed from St Catherine’s Road to Seven Sisters Road (Western Junction), between Barrington Lodge, near to the western junction with Seven Sisters Road and Mirables which is located about a mile towards Niton. Following significant ground movement in the area in early February 2014, Undercliff Drive has been physically closed between Mirables (in the west) and a point 560 metres to the West of Seven Sisters Road (in the east) for safety reasons. There is now no access for vehicles or pedestrians. A formal road and footpath closure will be in operation for the foreseeable future. Access to businesses and attractions in Undercliff Drive will be maintained.

During the period of closure the alternative route for traffic will be; Pedestrians; A3055 Undercliff Drive, Public Footpath V81, V77, NT28, NT29, NT30 and A3055 Undercliff Drive. will be closed between 7.30pm and 6.30am from A3020 Godshill Road to Appuldurcombe Road on each night between approx. Wednesday 16 and Tuesday 22 September 2015 (weather and other circumstances permitting). The alternative route for traffic is; A3020 Godshill Road and Victoria Avenue, A3055 High Street (Shanklin), Church Road, Cowleaze Hill, Bonchurch Road and Leeson Road, St Boniface Road, Mitchell Avenue, Ocean View Road, Newport Road (Ventnor), Clarence Road and High Street (Wroxall).
