Who Will Run Island High Schools: IW Council Officers Publish Their Choices

The Isle of Wight council decided that it didn’t like the idea of running the schools on the Island a while back. They thought it would be a better idea to get other organisations to run the schools instead.

Who Will Run Island High Schools: IW Council Officers Publish Their ChoicesThey put out a specification describing what they wanted to happen at the schools and invited organisations to tender.

Some organisations were local, others national.

Today, the Assistant Director of the Schools department of the Isle of Wight Council, who has been intimately involved with the process, Keith Simmons, issued a paper which makes recommendations to the councillors as to which groups should be running which schools.

Here’s the summary of the recommendations for the high schools …

Cowes High School
Cowes Pathfinder Partnership (CPP) (Foundation/Trust)

Carisbrooke High School
Medina Innovation Trust (MIT) (Foundation/Trust)

Fairlee (was Medina High School)
MIT (as a hard federation of the two schools) (Foundation/Trust)

Ryde High School
Academies Enterprise Trust (AET) (Academy)

Sandown High School
Academies Enterprise Trust (AET) (Academy)

These recommendations will be put forward to councillors to make a decision on the future of the Island schools on 30 September (full council) and Cabinet (1 October).
