Friends and family of an Island man are this morning been sending out a plea to fellow Islanders asking them if they’ve seen a small red car with front-end damage.
There are specialist traffic officer over on the Island at the moment investigating the circumstances.
We asked about the red car being found burnt out (as has been rumoured) – no official comment from them at the moment.
More when we hear about it.
They say the car was involved in a hit-and-run incident overnight in Trafalgar Road, Newport.
It sounds like it was a serious collision as they say the man, in his forties, is “fighting for his life” at St Mary’s hospital.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
Trafalgar Road closed
We heard from a VB reader, Louise Woolford, early this morning of an accident on Trafalgar Road, Newport. She said that the road has been closed and she could see four police cars and a van.
VB called the police this morning and they confirmed that there had been a road traffic accident there.
