Unless you’ve only just emerged from under a large stone, the Chancellor delivered his 2011 Budget today.
With the annual growth forecast revised down from 2.1% to 1.7% every penny will count for all of us.
Highlights from the budget included:
- Personal tax allowance to rise from £7,475 to £8,105 in April 2012
- Inheritance tax discount for charitable donations
- Fuel duty cut by 1p a litre from 6pm tonight
- Rate relief holiday extended to October 2012 for small businesses
- Extra 40,000 apprenticeships for jobless young people
- 21 new enterprise zones
- £100 million to help repair potholes on the roads
- Single-tier flat-rate state pension of around £140 pw
- Corporation tax will be reduced by 2%
