Live Voting Table For Tonight’s Cuts Meeting

We understand that at tonight’s Full council meeting it will be requested that the votes for the cuts will be Named Votes – that is, the vote of each councillor will be announced individually, rather than them being lumped together as totals.

This is often called for when councillors want to make other councillors directly accountable for their choice of voting.

We thought it would be helpful for you to know how your local councillor voted, so have built a system to let you know. We’ll endeavour to update it live as the votes are being taken.

Election results
While we were going to the effort of building this, we thought we’d also provide you with some background to how the councillors got to be at County Hall, elected to represent their constituents (that’s you!).

The first column, ‘Votes won by’, details how many more votes that councillor got than the next highest number of votes.

‘Winning margin’ is the percentage the ‘Votes won by’ is of the number of people who actually voted in that Ward on that day.

‘%age of electorate’ – The percentage of people who were eligible to vote in that Ward actually voted for that councillor.

Right-hand voting columns
The right-hand columns will have hold their voting record for tonight.

Using it
At the bottom of the list of names is a left-right scroll bar. Slide it to the right to see the votes tonight.

Thanks for the reminder, I had completely forgotten about submitting my response. Glad to know I’ve got a few days yet.

It effects the island because the people it carries will spend money all over the island, not just the specific area in which it runs.
And may I add that if this line goes, the hope of expanding a railway ( of any discription ) across the Island goes with it.

Well here’s an example. I live about as far as it’s possible to get from the railway line. But I use it to get down Ryde Pier. So do visiting members of my family. I did the same when I lived somewhere else on the island which isn’t on the line. Bus routes feed into the rail line at Shanklin. They do it for a sound commercial… Read more »
