Guinness World Record Attempt For Longest Football Match Gets Go Ahead

Readers may remember the piece we ran last month about the Guinness World Record attempt for the longest football match.

Poster:The event is being organised by East Cowes Victoria AFC and is planned to take place in May.

Organisers tell us that the event has now been officially accepted and recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records.

Making history on the Wight
This is fantastic news because if they’re successful with their attempt to extend a football match to in excess of 60 hours, not only will it make history for the team, but also the Isle of Wight.

The event takes place between 4th-7th May 2012 with public welcome to attend and watch the match.

Sponsors are being sought
Not surprisingly as this is a fundraiser, organisers are seeking sponsors of all kinds to support this event.

Over the course of the event there’ll be stalls and live entertainment during the day and night. On top of that, a raffle draw and auction of football memorabilia will be held on the last day of the event.

If you can give some time to help and prize donations would be gratefully appreciated.
