Met Office upgrade yellow weather warning for heavy rain to amber (updated)

The yellow (be aware) warning issued earlier in the week by the Met Office has now been upgraded to an amber (be prepared) warning.

The warning runs from 6pm today until 3pm tomorrow (Thursday).

The say, “Periods of heavy rain are expected during Wednesday evening and at times well into Thursday. This additional rainfall, following the recent wet weather, means that the public should be prepared for an increased risk of both surface water and river flooding.”

Update 12.38: The Met Office have now changed the period from “1225 Wed 19 Dec to 2359 Wed 19 Dec” back to a yellow (be aware) warning.

We can only assume that the amber warning remains in place for period 0000 to 1500 Thur 20 December

Update 13.38: The amber warning has now switched back again valid from “1800 Wed 19 Dec to 1500 Thu 20 Dec”.
