Magistrates’ Court hears of events that led to acid attack

This morning the remand hearing for the 48 year old woman from Ryde, accused of the Sandown acid attack was held at the Magistrates’ Court in Newport.

The attack that took place in the early hours of Wednesday morning has left a 22 year old woman suffering serious facial and upper body burns. The woman has been transferred to a specialist burns unit at Salisbury Hospital.

Grievous Bodily Harm with intent
Mr Vincent was acting for the defendant, a 48 year old woman from Ryde, who has been charged with ‘grievous bodily harm with intent’.

There was no application for bail, although the Defence said an application would be made at the Crown Court. The woman remains on remand.

A preliminary date has been set at the Crown Court, Newport for 30th June.
