Friday night sees the launch of a 12-month fundraising campaign for Ventnor Skatepark to raise £50,000.
Wight Trash skateboards, The Undecided Art Collective, Ventnor Skatepark group and an enormous number of artists have come together to offer a brilliant collection of high quality, unique, interesting and totally amazing artworks for a month-long online auction that kicks off from 9pm.
Ventnor Exchange (the old Post Office on Church St) is hosting the launch event, where you can meet some of the artists, see the works in person, as well watch skating films made by Wight Trash’s John Cattle.
Ventnor Skatepark
Even though John himself doesn’t live in Ventnor, he’s been working with others for many years to ensure the skate park at Ventnor is well-maintained. Helping skaters of all ages continue to have somewhere to skate in the South.
The current wooden ramps have to be regularly repaired, so plans are to raise enough cash to build a concrete skate park.
Come on down
All are welcome to the launch. Ventnor Exchange have a great range of beers from around the world, as well as other alcoholic and soft drinks.
It should be a good night. The artwork will remain on the walls all day Saturday. Check out some of the items that have been added to the auction via the Facebook event page.
