56-home development pulled from Planning Committee agenda

A planning application for 56 new homes in Bembridge, due to be considered at Tuesday’s Planning Committee, has been pulled from the agenda.

A spokesperson for Isle of Wight council informed News OnTheWight that the authority had received a request from the applicant and their planning agent last Friday (13th October) to remove planning application (21/01884/FUL), for the construction of 56 new homes on land off Hillway Road and Steyne Road.

The application has attracted significant objections from locals.

Reason for the withdrawal
The Isle of Wight council explained that this request came in light of certain information submitted by the applicant. This specific information played a key role in the local planning authority’s Appropriate Assessment.

For those unfamiliar, an Appropriate Assessment is required under the Habitats Regulations due to the proposed development’s location.

Council aims for transparency
Those who have voiced their opinions on this application in the past will receive direct notifications from the council regarding the change.

The community and other interested parties can expect the planning application to be on the agenda of the subsequent Planning Committee meeting, slated for November.
