Burlesque Chair Dance celebrates International Women’s Day with a superhero-themed flash mob

To celebrate International Women’s Day, Burlesque Chair Dance are making dance videos to Woman’s World by Katy Perry and sharing these videos around the UK to help promote and celebrate gender equality.

Coco Monroe is an Isle of Wight instructor; she is an advocate for empowering women and chose to commemorate International Women’s Day (Saturday 8th March) with a flash mob in Newport town square.

She and her dancers will be surprising local shoppers with a short dance dressed up in costumes and super hero outfits.

Raising funds to help women feel and be safe
Coco Monroe says,

“The Isle of Wight has a relatively high proportion of domestic abuse related crime.

“In the video we have collaborated with To Be In Her Shoes, a local group who fundraise for the cause, and the Hollie Gazzard Trust is their nominated charity.

“We are delighted to help raise funds to help women feel and be safe.”

Showcasing seven individual dancers
Coco Monroe is filming the entire montage on her iPhone 12 Pro, demonstrating how much you can do with an idea and an iPhone. Showcasing seven individual dancers in the workplace, (there is a radio presenter, hairdresser, dog walker, cafe owner, gym girl, holidaymaker and a car mechanic).

The diversity of the dancers demonstrates that Burlesque Chair Dance is for everyone from all walks of life, all shapes, ages and sizes.

The opening scenes show the ladies in their workplace when they receive a text calling them to dance. They run out of the door immediately, leaving their work behind to join the flash mob where they dance together in super hero outfits and sequins! Much to the surprise of local shoppers.
