On Sunday a band of concerned Island residents sacrificed their Sunday lie-in and went to work on the weeds and brambles at Frank James Memorial Hospital. They hope to clear the overgrowth to make way for locally-grown produce and encourage the 11 joint-owners of the building to take responsibility for the building.
For over four years a band of guerilla gardeners have been giving their time to ensuring the protection of the former Frank James Hospital in East Cowes. Work by the owners is due to start in the very near future.
On the fourth anniversary of when a handful of guerilla gardeners first entered the former hospital grounds to clear the overgrowth, the Friends of Frank James welcomed visitors to the grounds.
This can be seen as a huge victory for the guerilla gardeners who have been working tirelessly to rescue this important piece of Isle of Wight heritage from further decay.
