Thanks to Tess from Ventnor Library for this update of what’s being going on at our local library over the last week. In her own words. Ed
No time to give list of new titles this week as we have been so hectic.
Thanks to the Friends of Ventnor Library we now have wheels on all our book shelves, to go with the new sofa and chair they have raised funds for!
The Thin Green Line
On Friday evening we were able to push aside the shelves to allow a very successful showing of the “Thin Green Line” a film by the Footprint Trust about environmental issues and champions on the Island.
A packed audience were able to watch the film and discuss what they can do to enhance our environment. Our thanks to David George, Ray Harrington-Vail and supporters, for hosting the event which was in aid of The Samaritans, and the Ventnor Film Society and Community Cafe for the loan of their equipment.
Ventnor certainly rocked
On Saturday, the wheels enabled us to celebrate National Libraries Day in style!
Once again, FVL worked tirelessly to organize a very Ventnor day of live music and readings by at least eight groups of local musicians and six authors.
Special thanks to Fred and Val for their sterling work, as well as all FVL for their time, Don for his cake, and Pistache the dog for being so cute – we couldn’t do it without you. Thanks too to Mayor Steve Stubbings for his kind words on opening the day.
753 members of the public and Tanith, Rob and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and are looking forward to the next Ventnor Library Rocks – Again!
Back to our usual …
So, back to normal this week – look out for our usual Knit and Natter session on Tuesday, RhymeTime on Friday, the new exhibition “In Focus”, starting Tuesday 14th February and of course the “New at Ventnor Library last week” list.
