Petitions handed in to County Hall

This afternoon as the public consultation on the proposed closure of nine of the eleven libraries comes to an end, protesters against the closures gathered outside County Hall.

Save The Libraries: Petitions Presented To County HallOver the last few weeks, Cowes residents Rachel Beasley, Zoe Morgan and Amber Bazzoni had collected in excess of 1,800 signatures from concerned residents campaigning to keep Cowes library open.

Rowan Adams represented campaigners in Ventnor, who have collected a whopping 2,500+ signatures opposed to the closure of Ventnor library.

The petitions were presented to Cllr George Brown.

Added to the above, almost 400 signatures were collected in East Cowes and presented to George Brown last Thursday morning! Any one know the total for the whole Island?
