Thanks to Arthur for sharing this latest report from the …a3crg cycle racing team. Ed
For the May bank holiday weekend, team members of racing team …a3crg, Arthur Venables and Matt Harris had lined up the Sussex CA 10 and 25 championship for the Saturday and the Sunday. Unfortunately, Matt Harris had to pull out of both races due to illness. While Arthur’s main focus for the weekend was on winning the Sussex junior championship for both the 10 and 25 mile time trials.
Early start
Arthur started the 10 mile time trial on the Saturday morning at 7:54am over in Steyning, where he completed the 10 mile course in a time of 24:16, with an average speed of 24.7mph, and therefore meant he had done a fast enough ride to win the 10 mile junior championship.
Personal best
The following morning at 8:14am, Arthur started his next assault on 25 mile course in Steyning, where he did not disappoint, in which he completed the time trial in 1:02:18, with an average speed of 24.1mph, which was a new personal best, taking off 1:30 from his previous personal best for 25 miles. While also he had won the 25 mile junior championship.
This now means that Arthur is the Sussex CA 10 mile and 25 mile 2014 junior champion, and he’ll be collecting his medals for these achievements at the annual Sussex presentation in November.
