Ofsted inspectors said "Ineffective governance arrangements, overseen by Academies Education Trust (AET), mean that pupils have been let down in the quality of education they receive for too long".
AET, control two high schools on the Isle of Wight, Sandown and Ryde academies.
The Academies Enterprise Trust, is a national chain of academies managing many schools across the UK.
They are not without controversy having been instructed by the government to slow their expansion.
