The Isle of Wight council's Constitution states that petitions require over 2,500 signatures (made in person on paper) in order to be brought to Full Council meetings as an official agenda item.
The Independents say it’s nonsensical for Cllr Whitehouse to suggest the leader of the council should not accept the role (it's only 5% of his working hours, they say), adding that it will provide a voice in some of the most important forums in British politics for Isle of Wight issues.
The situation is getting desperate as two more break-ins at the former hospital are recorded. Friends call for the Isle of Wight council to take urgent action to protect this iconic building.
