Yet another revelation in the Ecoisland shock of this week.
David Green founded and was the sole-director of Eco Island, whose aim was to turn the Isle of Wight in to a self-sustaining Island – producing its own power and food.
This concept attracted the attention of some large companies who contributed funds to run projects on the Island to test their concepts.
EcoIsland went in to bankruptcy in October 2013. Two days after this became public, Stuart Love, director at the Isle of Wight council alleged that £115,000 of public funding was unaccounted. David Green was arrested and tragically took his own life some days after.
At the subsequent inquest, it emerged that the police investigation concluded that, “there is insufficient evidence to confirm that any criminal offences were committed.”
Prior to EcoIsland, David Green headed up the sailing charity, UKSA.
