People should provide for their own retirement, and not demand the state to help them do so: The candidates respond.
The Isle of Wight 2010 General Election had eleven candidates standing and OnTheWight gave it strong coverage. We set the candidates a number of challenges:-
1) Putting together a 100 character manifesto.
2) We gave each candidate the opportunity to publish an unedited 500 word manifesto, linking them all from a single page, giving a Guide To What The Candidates Say page.
3) We actively promoted The Democracy Club Candidate Q&A resulting is most of the candidates answering fifteen questions on National issues, plus three on Local issues.
OnTheWight promoted the use of ElectionLeaflets to capture the material candidates distributed prior to be elected.
Live video coverage at the count
Trying to bring people closer to the action, we used a mobile phone to stream video live from the vote count.
