Julie Jones-Evans was first elected as Conservative county councillor for Newport Central in the 2013 local elections.
In January 2015 she opted to removed herself from the Conservative Party. She became a member of the “Individual Members’ Group”. She became Executive member for Regeneration in January 2017 under the leadership of Conservative, Dave Stewart.
She was elected as an Independent councillor in the May 2021 elections and became part of the Alliance Group. She holds the role of Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Business Development and Tourism.
