Simon Hayes stood as an independent candidate in the first elections for a Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) in November 2012.
He was elected as the PCC for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
He appointed Laura Franklin as his assistant on the Isle of Wight in June 2013.
At the PCC election in 2016, he lost to Michael Lane.
