Aggregate needed for YMCA pothole problem before cars arrive for young carers

Trudie at the YMCA in Shanklin has been in touch with OnTheWight in the hope some readers may be able to help with an appeal.

Every year they organise a Christmas family event for the Island’s young carers – those young people who care for relatives with disabilities or long-term illnesses.

They put on a Christmas lunch and entertainment in the afternoon, but the morning starts with the ‘Miles for Smiles’ event.

Solution needed for potholes
Organised by Clive Ford, high-end cars from around the country gather at the YMCA in Shanklin and take the young carers out for the rides of their lives.

The only problem is that the drive at the front of the property – where all the cars need to approach and park to pick up the young carers – is full of potholes.

Trudie is hoping there might be a generous OnTheWight reader who can donate a few bags of aggregate to fill the holes before 10th December.

If you can help please get in touch with Trudie by calling 861 071.

Cars taking part
The young carers will have the experience of riding in a choice of six TVRs, Aston Martins, a Lotus, Ford Mustangs, an AC Cobra, a Sandrail, a Bentley, a Holden, two Ferrari, a choice of Mercedes, a Subaru WRC, a Bumblebee Cheverolet, three Lamborghini plus special guest, The Stig in a special surprise car.

As you can imagine, having to navigate around the potholes could be tricky for some of the cars taking part.
