Members of the public, Isle of Wight councillors and the Island’s MP have been invited to the Grade II listed, former former Frank James Hospital on Sunday the 22nd September.
Tanja Rebel, one of the Friends of Frank James, says the Friends of Frank James intend to make it an ‘Open Grounds Day’, in line with the ‘Open House Days’ that are being held in London that same weekend.
She goes on to say,
“As English Heritage is holding Heritage Days the weekend before, we thought we would stick to the same theme and highlight the plight of our Heritage on the Island, where various listed buildings are falling apart before our very own eyes.
“The Friends of Frank James would like to see this trend reversed, starting with Frank James as the Flag Ship.”
All are welcome between 10am and 2pm (Sunday 22nd September 2013). You’ll be able to see the fantastic work that has been carried out by volunteers over the last 18 months to clear the grounds and secure the derelict buildings.
