If you were following our coverage of former Independent MP Martin Bell as he toured around the Isle of Wight earlier this week (listen to the podcasts), you would’ve heard some of the anecdotes mentioned at his talk on Monday evening at the Riverside Centre.
Mr Bell was on the Island to help the Independent Group of councillors launch their election campaign and in the evening gave a talk about his life as a war reporter, UNICEF ambassador and former Independent MP.
Still as sharp and erudite
He may be in his mid-70s, but Mr Bell is still as sharp and erudite as he was when on our TV screens for over thirty years. He had the audience of around 50 people
A range of questions were put to Mr Bell, some relating to politics, others to his role as UNICEF ambassador and one even about his views of women on the front line.
