A new musical skewering the life of composer Andrew Lloyd Webber arrives at Ventnor Fringe Festival this week.
Webber! plays the Bosco Theater tent on Tuesday 21st July 2026 at 7.30pm.
The show follows Andrew Lloyd Webber, the man behind Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita and Starlight Express, as Margaret Thatcher guides him towards his goal of becoming ‘filthy rich and f***ing useless’.
Along the way it asks whether he will ever become a Lord, and whether he will fly back to London to vote to cut tax credits for the poor.
What the critics said
The reviews have been hot since the show first appeared.
The Scotsman called it ‘Gleefully filthy!’, whilst Speak The Speech reckoned ‘It should run longer than Cats!’.
British Theatre Guide called it ‘An absolute hoot’, and Stage to Page went with ‘Riotous!’.
Who’s behind it
Grant Sharkey and The Ventnor Darling’s Laura Clare Reid wrote, composed and star in the show.

Webber! debuted in July 2025 and became an instant success after storming the Edinburgh Fringe.
Two pack-out Theatre Tent performances followed at Beautiful Days Festival, along with a short UK tour in November.
