Andrew Turner at Yarmouth Post Office

Andrew Turner MP in Private Eye (again!)

It would appear that someone in the Andrew Turner camp has upset the editor of Private Eye’s HP Sauce column.

The latest issue features the Isle of Wight Conservative MP once again. The previous issue had a full page column dedicated to the saga of Andrew and his fiancee of 17 years Carole Dennett splitting up after she left him for Andrew’s transport adviser, Nicholas Finney.

Press launch covered
The third entry in recent weeks picks up on the “press launch” orchestrated by Chris Whitehouse, held last week in one of the smallest rooms in the Riverside Centre, and the subsequent radio interview with BBC Radio Solent’s Jessica Parker.

The Eye: “Agonising incoherence”
HP Sauce writes,

Asked why he would have been spending so many more nights in London than on the Isle of Wight, as he claimed on his expenses forms for six years, he said at first that he couldn’t remember. After several moments of agonising incoherence, however, he suddenly recalled he had been in the shadow cabinet.

Whoops! The truth is that in 2005 he became a junior front-bench spokesperson on charities, but David Cameron gave him the boot after less than a year in the job.

The piece goes on to reference the Vote of No Confidence, tabled for this Friday’s meeting of the Executive members of the Isle of Wight Conservative Association.

They add,

To which Turner may subsequently wish to add to the list of things he can’t remember.
