Many congratulations to Andy Phillips from The Jolly Fryer (the mobile fish and chip van that travels to rural Isle of Wight areas) who recently Braved the Shave and had his tresses and bushy beard shaved off for charity.
Andy had chosen to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and raised a whopping £2,123.46.
The hair shaving event took place last weekend and included a live performance by musician and singer Billy Lockett (who has apparently reached the top of the iTunes singles chart and reached similar heights elsewhere with his recent EP) along with a gathering of family and friends to cheer Andy on during the shave.
Phillips: A huge thank you
Andy shared the good news on the Jolly Fryer social media account, saying,
“With regard to what was raised for Macmillan Cancer Support, a total of £2,123.46 has now been tallied up.
“If that wasn’t good enough, those who came to our party on the Sunday and threw money into a bucket and bought raffle tickets accounted for about £850 of that. From 68 people we are staggered. What an amazing effort.
“The balance was from our very generous customers who contributed via a tatty box on our counter. So to all who contributed, a huge thank you.”
