Easter duck races

Annual Rowing and Duck Races return to Yarmouth on Easter Saturday

If you are looking for something to do on Easter Saturday (26th March), why not head to Yarmouth to watch a spot of racing on the River Yar.

Five crews taking part
From 1.30pm the Dabchicks Rowing Club has organised races for the following trophies:

The Black Rock Trophy • The Blue Blade of Yar The Sally Hayles Trophy • The Dabchicks Trophy

Crews from Harbour Commissioners, Yarmouth Sailing Club, River Yar Boatyard, Whittle Marine, The Dabchicks, The Yarmouth Gig Rowing Club, Royal Solent Yacht Club and The RNLI will all be taking part.

Quack for the Duck Race
The rowing races will be followed by the annual Duck Race (3pm).

1,200 ducks will be released into the mouth of the River Yar and left to battle the tide to see who comes first.

There’ll be tea and cakes available at the Sailing Club, as well as the usual beefburgers, bangers and beer from ‘Fat Shaun’.

Tickets are £1 each and available from Holdings, Harwoods, the Pharmacy and the Sailing Club on the day if there are any left.

Cash prizes to be won and proceeds going to good causes.
