Island rock and metal band Any Road are organising a night of live music at Strings Bar and Venue in Newport on Thursday 29th August.
The event, called Big Night of Metal, aims to raise funds towards the band’s next album and to bring more UK metal bands to the Isle of Wight to help the underground scene grow.
Supporting the underground metal scene
Any Road have been part of the Island’s rock and metal community since 2011.
Band member Jon Weldon said,
“The Island metal scene has seen a steady growth in recent years with such massive events as the Apocalypse club (a UK wide group of events) and bands such as British Lion also coming to the Island with huge successes, and we feel that this is the time to help grow the underground scene.”
Live bands and high energy performances
The line-up for the night includes Sugarcane Brain, a local covers band who will open the show.
Tunguska, a thrash metal band from Brighton, will bring what Weldon described as “high octane” speed and riffs.
Solatia, from London, will deliver their blend of melodic and heavy modern metal.
Local favourites Any Road will also take to the stage with their mix of modern and classic metal and hard rock.
The evening will end with a two-hour session of metal and rock anthems from across the decades.
Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne and more
There will be merchandise stalls where fans can support the bands directly.
A special tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, described by Weldon as “the late great metal icon and prince of darkness himself,” is also planned.
More announcements and activities for the night will follow.
Tickets are available via the website. 18+. Doors open 7pm – 1am
