A Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council (NCCC) bench has been stolen from Downside Recreation Ground with another bench discarded in adjacent woodland.
Two men were witnessed carrying the stolen brown recycled plastic bench along Godric Road on Wed 28th August 2024.
Councillor Joanne Ballington for Pan said,
“NCCC are saddened to see two of the benches funded by them on Pan and Barton have been removed.
“These benches have been very well used for our residents with mobility and other health problems.
“Our residents who are unable to get out much have been using them to enjoy the sunshine.
“I would ask please that they are returned (with no questions asked) to where they were taken from please or to let the police know if anyone has any information about this.”
