Appeal for stolen South African coin on the Isle of Wight

Police are appealing for information from anyone who has been offered two distinctive items reported stolen from a house in Ryde on the Isle of Wight.

The theft took place at an address in Dover Street sometime between Monday, October 1, 2012 and Monday, October 8, 2012.

One ounce gold South African Krugerrand coin
Investigating officer Detective Constable Andy Cooper of Isle of Wight CID said: “A one ounce gold South African Krugerrand coin and a silver plated 1920s trinket box with the letter “N” on top was reported stolen along with other jewellery. Police would like to speak to anyone who has been offered a Krugerrand or silver plated jewellery box in recent weeks.”

Man arrested
A 56-year-old man from Ryde, Isle of Wight was arrested on Saturday, October 20, 2012 on suspicion of theft and is currently on bail until November 23, 2012 pending further enquiries.
