This weekend sees the return of the Apple Day Festival over at Afton Park Farm in West Wight.
Following on the success of last year’s festival, over the two days you can try your hand at apple picking or apple-pressing. There’ll be tree pruning demonstrations with apple identification, apple displays and information on apple tree care and management for all you apple nuts.
It wouldn’t be a festival without the entertainment and there’s plenty in store. In association with Blunt Promotions, sit back on Saturday and enjoy an acoustic set from Dave Waites (Pink Pussycat), Tom Gardner (Motion Pictures) and Sean Goodfield (Drew).
On Sunday Dave Waites will be back again and also gracing the stage will be newly formed band, Lucid (Sunny and Blue Brown, Ollie Ducie and Nick Potts).
But is doesn’t end there, you can also see the Island samba band, there’ll be plenty of Isle of Wight beers, wines & Ventnor Brewery’s infamous Justin Cider.
You can enjoy the beautiful garden walks, try your luck on the traditional coconut shy, peek inside the gypsy caravan, place your bets on the ferret racing.
The list goes on with juggling, stilt walkers and a circus workshop, story telling in the Willow House, face painting, pony and trap rides, pole-lathing, IOW Farmer’s Market, children’s Apple Olympics, IOW Acoustic Music Club and if you missed them last weekend at the Classic Car Show in Newport, Vectis Classic Cars will in residence for the weekend.
All in all sounds like a brilliant weekend. For more info check out their website. [images courtesy of Afton Park Farm]
