Big smiles as St George’s School qualifies for Artsmark Gold

Thanks to Robert for sharing this great news from St George’s. Ed

St George’s School have recently been successful in their bid to the Arts Council England for Artsmark Gold to celebrate the high standard of arts education they deliver to their students.

The summary report stated the arts staff led by Robert Baisley, Juliet Bell, Assistant Head and Headteacher, Sue Holman showed a passionate enthusiasm for the arts, and were keen to continue to nurture and develop the arts within the school.

The impact on students and staff within the school is clearly understood and as a result the school highly values the arts.

Creative activities are well celebrated
Provision is well planned, with clearly identified objectives, monitoring and outcomes. The assessor commended the evidence of the arts via effective displays around the school and noted that creative activities are also celebrated well with parents and the wider community. The assessor felt one of the school’s strengths was in its well-established links to the local community and to artists and organisations.

The school are very clear about the areas that they would like to develop further. The assessor went on to commend the potential St George’s has as a leader of good arts practice and how the school could develop the support and guidance it provides to other schools and organisations within the arts to both support them on their own Artsmark journey and perhaps most importantly to help them to develop and improve their own arts offer learning from your best practice.

Headteacher, Sue Holman said,

“All the staff at St George’s School are passionate about improving the school offer to be the best it can be and this is well deserved recognition of their dedication and commitment to our wonderful students.”
