According to anti-single use plastic protesters, a truck load of plastic enters our oceans every single minute worldwide, killing wildlife and polluting our waters.
The protest was part of a national campaign to encourage supermarkets to reduce their plastic packaging. Inspired by the recent TV series ‘Hugh’s war on waste’ the shoppers felt moved to action to join in with the ‘plastic attack’.
Plastic-free campaigner, Hollie Fallick, says more direct action is needed to make the supermarkets listen and commit to tackling the issue. Details of how you can take part here.
