Balfour Beatty, who previously operated as Mansell on the Isle of Wight, have started consultations with staff about the possibility of closing their Island office.
It’s part of a company-wide cost-reduction plan called the ‘Build to Last programme’, which launched in February.
Up to 20 staff
A spokesperson told OnTheWight that up to twenty people work for the company on the Island from their base in Rink Road, Ryde on the Island.
They went on to say that no matter what the outcome of the consultation, “We will continue to bid for work on the Island.”
In a company statement Balfour Beatty said,
“As part of our Build to Last transformation programme, we are proposing changes to our regional construction business to make it leaner, reducing our overheads while maintaining our ability to deliver projects to clients around the UK.
“We are proposing the consolidation of a number of our delivery units and local offices in England, making more efficient use of our property portfolio.”
Our thoughts are with all those who might be affected.
