Bestival organiser and BBC Radio One DJ Rob da Bank is again offering the prize of a lifetime to aspiring Isle of Wight based acts as he announces his annual Bestival Island Bands and DJs Competition.
As in previous years, the winners in both categories will be awarded the chance of a prestigious slot at this year’s multi award-winning Bestival, sharing a stage (or DJ booth) with some of the greatest music stars in the World.

2011 Bestival Island DJ Competition winners Elmo & Beavz (whose prize was to open a decidedly hot and sweaty Bollywood Bar to great acclaim at Bestival 2011) so impressed Rob that he has now gone on to book them in their own right for Bestival 2012 (they have also landed a slot at Serbia’s renowned Exit Festival later this year).
Closing date 11th May
After judging all entries received by the closing date (Friday 11th May), Rob’s shortlisted favourite five bands and five DJs will play off before a panel of celebrity judges in our Grand Final (which will take place again this year at Northwood House, Cowes on Thursday 14th June : 7:00-11:30pm), all competing for the much coveted glory of being crowned 2011 Bestival Bands & DJs Competition champs!
Rob’s chosen finalists will be announced to local media on Friday 25th May
NB all entrants MUST be residents of the Isle of Wight – any entrants found to not qualify will be disqualified.
