Bestival Bands & DJ Comp: Rob da Bank Interview (podcast)

Bestival Bands & DJ Comp: Rob da Bank Interview (podcast)Earlier today we popped down to St Catherine’s School, where the brains and brawn behind Bestival, Rob da Bank (also patron of the school) met up with the pupils to have a good ole’ chinwag.

We caught up with him afterwards for a chat about his work with St Catherine’s (podcast to come later) but also to find out about the Bestival Band and DJ Competition that is taking place tonight at Ryde Theatre (free entrance from 7pm).

We all appreciate how much musical talent there is on the Island, so it was no surprise to hear Rob raving about what he believes to be some of the best music produced in the UK.

Every year 100s of Island musicians send in their entries to the competition for a chance to be heard by the Radio One DJ and possibly be shortlisted for the finals.

Rob told us that after recently running a similar band comp in Dorset, it re-reminded him of what an amazing level of talent we have here on the Isle of Wight.

He went on to say that every year the quality of entries is 4-5 times better than the year before. That’s some accolade.

Anyway, take a listen to what else Rob has to say and do go along tonight to show your support for the bands and DJs who’ll be battling it out from 8pm. It’s going to be ace! [audio:http://otw-audio.s3.amazonaws.com/rob-da-bank-bestival-battle-09-final.mp3]
