Whilst we’re on the subject of healthcare appeals, The British Heart Foundation who launched their appeal to help heart patients at St Mary’s Hospital back in February, are keen to remind Island residents of how they can get involved.
We understand that many residents have already risen to the challenge and there are fund raising events taking place over the next couple of months (more to come on those later).
The aim of the appeal is to raise £27,500 towards the cost of a portable echo machine at the hospital.
An echocardiogram machine is able to detect diseases of the heart values and muscle without surgery and will be an invaluable addition at St Mary’s.
Mary Bareham, BHF Fundraising Volunteering Manager said “We cannot fund the echo machine without the help of people across the Isle of Wight. There are lots of ways that you can support the appeal – join us in our money mile – save up your loose change and donate it to help achieve the mile of money.”
Details will follow in due course of where you can drop off your pennies, these will be taken to the mainland and laid out over a mile.
Alternatively you can donate directly to the BHF by using their Website
